  The Bel Foundation awards 10 employee grants  
 
 
 

At the second meeting in 2010 of the Board of Directors held on 28 October, the Bel Foundation awarded 10 grants to projects spearheaded by our employees in 8 countries around the world: Algeria, China, France, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the United Kingdom.

Acreditar in Portugal

Acreditar is a non-profit association that supports children and adolescents living with cancer, as well as their families.
Sponsored project: provide the children’s families with accommodations in proximity to the treatment centers (in Lisbon and Coimbra).
Project spearheaded by Ana Isabel Rodrigues, Gisela da Costa Duarte Pardal and Celina Guimarães Pereira, who are regular donors to the association.

Couleurs de Chine in China

Couleurs de Chine is a French non-profit association that advocates the recognition of Chinese ethnic minorities, mainly by working to promote the education of children and particularly young girls.
Sponsored project: construction of a sports field for a school located in a rural region.
Project spearheaded by Lydie Laperal Rocha, who is active in the association and who sponsors a little girl, along with Rachel Meisner.

Courir pour une Bel cause at the Bel Headquarters

Courir pour une Bel cause (Run for a Bel cause) is a project initiated by 3 employees at Bel who want to collect donations through the participation of co-workers of the Bel Groupe in a race. The runners make their donations to SOS Village d’Enfants an association already supported by the Bel Foundation.
Project spearheaded by Sylvine Eckert, Ilfynn Lagarde and Aude Cittadini Cesi, who will encourage their co-workers to participate in the race and to make a donation to the sponsored association.

Entraide populaire familiale in Algeria

This non-profit association manages 5 support centers for people with developmental disabilities and promotes their education and job opportunities.
Sponsored project: improvement of the nutritional quality of meals for people with developmental disabilities in the 5 centers.
Project spearheaded by Rafik Osmani, who has been involved over the past two years in advocacy for the association’s initiatives and reputation amongst donors François Xavier Moreau and Mourad Belaidi are helping the association too.

Hart Herons swimming club in the UK

Hart Herons Swimming Club is a non-profit association with a mission to provide weekly activities like swimming to children with handicaps.
Sponsored project: the funding from the Foundation will be used to buy buoys to help the children swim as well as equipment for aquatic games.
Project spearheaded by Deane Camilla, who has been involved in the association for ten years and who volunteers her time every Sunday to accompany the children with Jean Noel Darniche, Nigel Marchant , Michelle Bamford , Janet Carroll et Rosemary Tapp.

Hravě žij zdravě! in the Czech Republic

Hravě žij zdravě! (Live Healthy and Enjoy It!) is a non-profit association that works to prevent obesity in children and adults.
Sponsored project: “Live healthy and enjoy it” to build a camp to provide educational and athletic activities for children and adolescents with obesity.
Project spearheaded by Petra Lesjukova and Zuzana Manninen, who are advocates of the association and who would like to become facilitators at the camp.

Rodičovský klub pri IV is a non-profit association that promotes wellness and children’s awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and of environmental protection.
Sponsored project: tree planting, constructon of a sports field for physical activities and the organization of special events for environmental awareness.
Project spearheaded by Martin Bursak, Peter Petras and Ladislav Hreso, who volunteer their time for various activities with the children.

Soleil Marmailles between France and Madagascar

Soleil Marmailles is a non-profit association that works for development through children’s education, and that takes action on issues related to health and nutrition.
Sponsored project: expansion of the enrollment capacity in a farm school that trains children in agricultural occupations.
Project spearheaded by Nathalie Marcel, of Malagasy origin, who enlists the Bel International division in a social initiative in Madagascar.

Specjalny Orodek Szkolno Wychowawczy is a non-profit association with the mission to help young children with physical or developmental handicaps to become independent in their social life.
Sponsored project: funding of an educational program on nutrition and environmental awareness.
Project spearheaded by Dorota Witkowska, Maria Kowalska and Karol Popis, who have been working as advocates of their non-profit association within the local community and who also produce publications on health and wellness.

St. George’s Community Children’s Project is a non-profit association with a mission to improve the well-being of children in difficulty by providing them with a recreational facility and an education.
Sponsored project: an expansion of capacity to accommodate a greater number of children and the provision of balanced meals.
Project spearheaded by: Jean-Paul Pealez, who has been involved in the Community for a long time. He participates in fund raising for the association with Lyndsey Moore, Jackie Murphy, Michelle Bamford et Dawn Mueller.
