Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights (ADDE) – Burkina Faso (Léo, Sissili Province)

ADDE

Founded in Burkina Faso in 1996, the Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights (ADDE) works to ensure that the fundamental rights of children are respected; this includes the right to an education, protection against discrimination in any form and the right to resources that contribute to their health and well-being (healthy food and drinking water). The association works towards creating awareness of issues concerning health, sanitation, hygiene, education and preservation of the environement.

  Donation from Bel's Foundation

The Bel Foundation finances an environmental education program at schools that involves the creation of four nursery gardens. ADDE will be creating four nursery gardens at four different schools in the Sissili province that are already equipped with water pumps. Teachers, coordinators, nursery workers as well as the parents and students themselves will be trained on how to work these nursery gardens. Setting up these gardens will provide the children with an opportunity to learn about planting methods and environmental protection. The children’s awareness program will also reach out to the surrounding community through the use of movies and radio programming. Part of the plants grown will serve to feed the children in the schools (fruit, moringa) while other plant species will be sold to the parents and the surrounding community. 1,500 plants will be grown at each school.

The Bel Foundation wishes to contribute up to € 5,200 to this project.
