2023
Founded in 1973, the NGO Acting for Life works towards the economic and social development of vulnerable populations in specific territories. For nearly 50 years, it has pursued a single goal: to combat poverty and enable children, women and men to live with dignity, thanks to the help of more than 50 local partners in West Africa and Latin America.
Operating in Burkina Faso since 2015, Acting for Life has made the transformation of food systems towards sustainable and resilient models a major priority. Since 2021, the NGO has set up the TERSAA (Transition of Agricultural and Food Systems in Local Areas) programme in five countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Peru and Togo), the aim of which is to promote sustainable food production and guarantee the availability and access of consumers to locally produced quality food.
In 2022, the Bel Foundation’s support provided the means to improve the food offered in 30 schools in Burkina Faso.
In 2023, the Bel Foundation will continue to support this programme and will help to support and train producers from 12 cooperatives in Burkina Faso, and improve agricultural yields and distribution outlets, with the aim of serving a meal a day to beneficiary schoolchildren.
What are the project’s expected results?
A total of 2,400 pupils in 30 primary schools will have access to a meal a day at school. Find more information on the TERSAA programme here.
