Created in 1992, Collectif Haïti de France is a network of over 60 associations. The network’s mission is to support Haiti in its fight for fundamental rights and its development based on solidarity. To achieve this, the association is focusing on four key actions: inform, lead, unite and support.

The network draws its strength from building collaborative projects to help the people of Haiti. Since its creation, the network and local players have for example helped to set up 13 educational gardens in schools to train pupils in sustainable practices and ensure the daily food security of the children. 

In 2023, the Bel Foundation’s support will enable the association to develop two new educational gardens near two schools to supplement the meals served in the canteens, while also helping to reduce school absenteeism. 

What are the expected results? 

• Set up two educational food gardens averaging 2,000 square metres, fenced in and with gardening equipment 
• Construct technical premises and cisterns on each plot, to recover rainwater and guarantee sufficient distribution to supply the gardens 
• The educational gardens supply 60% of the meals in each canteen. 
• Raise the level of knowledge of teachers, pupils and parents about agro-ecological practices: the educational gardens will be a tool for teaching pupils about agro-ecological techniques and raising their awareness of the need for better nutrition 
• Ensure the daily food security of children and families, in a tense context of supplies for families and schools in urban areas 

A total of 830 pupils will have access to a balanced meal every day.
