Founded in 1996, Fête le Mur is a socio-sports association whose mission is to support young people through six themes based around the sports field: education through sport, career guidance and integration, academic success, breaking down barriers, food education and the promotion of girls and women.

The association is present in 80 towns in France, spread across 126 Priority Urban Neighbourhoods and 14 Active Monitoring Neighbourhoods (17 regions). Following observations from the field, the association wanted to set up a “from plate to racket” programme to combine healthy eating with sports activity.

The Bel Foundation’s support in 2023 will enable the association to set up programmes to educate young people in France’s priority urban neighbourhoods about food, agro-ecology and access to quality food.

The expected results are:

Set up appropriate food education programmes for different age groups
Foster learning about the agro-ecological transition for all children supported by Fête le Mur (visits to shared gardens, discovery of permaculture, agro-ecology, urban agriculture, etc.)
Help the parents of children supported by Fête le Mur to gain better access to and knowledge of quality food (distribution of balanced solidarity baskets, design and distribution of a tool to raise awareness of good nutrition)

A total of 2,800 young people aged 8 to 25 will learn about healthy, balanced nutrition and taking responsibility for their own diet.
