2023

Founded in 1996, SOURIRES D’ENFANTS is an association whose mission is to provide sustainable access to education, hygiene and good food for children in isolated rural areas of Laos, Vietnam and Benin. SOURIRES D’ENFANTS also supports women and local development. 

To date, the association has supported over 32 schools in Vietnam, 25 in Laos and four in Benin.

The Bel Foundation’s support in 2023 will enable the association to open four school canteens in schools in central Laos: the general aim of this development project is to promote sustainable access to good food in this region. 

The project’s expected results are as follows: 

• Build, equip and provide electricity to four school canteens  
• Set up, equip and maintain fenced-in vegetable gardens measuring 35 square metres each, planting fruit trees and hen houses in the four schools
• Improved nutrition for children thanks to vegetable and egg harvests, which provide regular supplies for the canteens 
• Hygiene and nutrition training for pupils and their parents, install water ramps in three schools to enable children to wash their hands and teeth 

A total of 325 pupils in four schools will have access to a more complete diet.
